Jenison Autism Services
The Lighthouse Approach
ABA therapy at all Lighthouse facilities follows a collaborative, play-based model based on the real experience of families with autistic children. Our centers were originally founded by parents of an autistic child, giving us a unique perspective on how to support your child and family. Our program provides:
- Each child receives individualized one-on-one therapy supported by BCBAs, SLPs, and registered behavior technicians working together to adapt the program as needed.
- Smaller caseloads ensure we’re available to help maintain continuity, while family and caregiver involvement is provided through regular check-ins and training with the team.
- When appropriate, support may also extend into the home or community to help learners integrate into their natural environment.
Alongside ABA therapy with integrated speech support, Lighthouse also provides autism diagnostic testing at all locations. Families can benefit from evaluation, diagnosis, and enrollment guidance through our dedicated outreach and insurance team.
Lighthouse Fusion®
Our signature Lighthouse Fusion programs bring speech therapy into everyday ABA programming instead of providing it only in separate sessions. Communication skills are a core focus for many families with autistic kids, and the best way for learners to practice these skills is during their regular daily activities. Our services are delivered in a play-based environment, providing a fun and engaging setting for activities where speech development is naturally integrated throughout the day.
Diagnostic Services
Autism diagnosis and evaluations are provided at all Lighthouse locations. If you notice early signs of autism in your child, or you have any other developmental concerns, you can reach out to our dedicated evaluation team to begin the screening process. Early intervention with ABA therapy is always the best approach.
What to Expect During the Evaluation Process
Our team includes licensed clinical psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and BCBAs, collaborating to make sure your child receives an accurate diagnosis and the best care. If you need help with documentation and scheduling, the team is also available to clarify and make the process clear and manageable.
- The process begins with a virtual parent interview led by a licensed psychologist or other qualified professional.
- From there, you’ll arrange an in-person evaluation with your child and a member of the team.
- During the visit, your child meets with a qualified BCBA or another licensed clinician for about an hour.
- Standardized assessments like the CARS-2 or ADOS-2 are conducted along with observations through play-based interaction.
- When the session is done, a psychologist will meet with you and your family to review the findings, explain the diagnoses, and answer any questions you may have about possible next steps.
