As many of you can recall, prior to coming to the Lighthouse, our Chazzy boy had a permanent knot and scab on his forehead from repeatedly whacking his head out of frustration. He was flying into daily rages and was harming himself and us. I can’t tell you how many sleepless nights I laid awake terrified of what his and our futures would turn out to be. I was literally at a breaking point. I spent countless hours at his school pleading for services that I knew he needed and to no avail. My heart was breaking to see our precious little boy so miserable and we felt both helpless and hopeless.
Fast forward to today, and we see a completely transformed child. He charges to the front door and makes his daily grand entrance as if to say ” Hi everyone! I’m here!” We never know what he is going to learn next, but we are filled with joy and hopefulness that he will continue to thrive and grow.
I live in fear for the day that insurance no longer pays for Chaz to remain at The Lighthouse, but I pray every day that he will have gained the right skills to transition back in to public school.
We can’t thank you all enough for loving our boy as much as we do, he is so happy and funny and we get such joy from watching his daily growth.
